Wizkid & Other 9 Artists To Drop Album Before The End Of 2022

So far, the Nigerian music scene has had a successful year.

Top albums such as Burna Boy’s Love, Damini, Omah Lay’s Boy Alone, Fireboy DML’s Playboy, Adekunle Gold’s Catch Me If You Can, Simi’s To Be Honest, Falz’s B.A.H.D, and others have been released.

While these albums have been worth listening to, propelled by some of the best productions, we are still waiting for albums from some of our favorite artists, which are set to be released before the end of the year.

Without further ado, here are some Nigerian albums to look out for before the end of 2022.

1. Wizkid – More Love Less Ego

We will never forget the influence Made in Lagos had on African music. Because various artists couldn’t get enough of the album, they kept jamming to the songs and posting them on their social media pages. Songs such as the Tems-assisted Essence became anthems, earning a Grammy Award nomination for Best Global Music Album, as well as the parent album being nominated for Best Global Music Album.

When Wizkid, also known as ‘Machala,’ announced that he was working on an album, his fans were overjoyed. Wizkid has been dropping hints about the album, and it has become one of the most anticipated projects for 2022. Wizkid’s More Love, Less Ego promises to be an intriguing album due to the singer’s musical background.

2. BNXN (fka Buju) – Bad Since ’97

BNXN has recently been one of the most featured artists in the Nigerian music industry, demonstrating the artist’s talent. He previously released the successful EP, Sorry I’m Late, and has now announced his upcoming album, Bad Since ’97.

BNXN aka Buju has always told us he’s bad from the start in songs like Daniel Benson, so the project’s title isn’t surprising. The talented artist previously revealed the album cover on his Twitter page, as well as the project’s producers. Notable artists have expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming project. “@BNXN,” Jae5 tweeted. “Bad since 97″ is about to shut down everything!!!!.”

3. M.I Abaga – The Guy

When M.I Abaga releases a new album, fans can expect bars, punchlines, and the best lyrical delivery. The revered rapper is not to be taken lightly when it comes to hip-hop, having won the Headies Award for Best Rap Album and Lyricist on the Roll in 2016 and 2018, respectively.
M.I recently revealed via tweet that his new album, The Guy, will be released on August 19th, after repeatedly teasing it on his social media pages. Nas, Olamide, Jesse Jagz, Wande Coal, Ice Prince, Duncan Mighty, and BNXN all appear on the album’s 12 tracks. As a build-up to the new album, he’s also asked his fans to address him as ‘The Guy,’ and released a single titled, The Guy. We have five more days until the release of this new album.

4. Bella Shmurda – Hypertension

Bella Shmurda announced the release of his debut album in an interview with Beat FM after releasing his High Tension 2.0 extended play in 2021. He stated that the EP is only a teaser for his upcoming album, Hypertension. According to him, the album has been in the works for some time and was supposed to be finished at the time of the interview. Although we don’t know why the album was delayed, we expect it to be a success based on his previous projects such as High Tension and its sequel.

This year, the indigenous singer has appeared on several songs, including Wild Party with Rayvanny and Krizbeatz, Elevate (Remix), Fvck Off, and Cobham’s Jah Eli Jah. We can’t wait to see how much stress Bella Shmurda’s Hypertension causes.

5. Blaqbonez – Young Preacher

Blaqbonez previously stated on his Twitter page that he is working on a new album. “My next album is called ‘Young Preacher,’ been working on it since the day dropped Sex over love,” he wrote in a tweet. Blaqbonez has been the polar opposite of a love preacher since the release of his 2021 Sex Over Love. He put on a full-fledged concert called “Breaking the Yoke of Love Crusade,” in which he gave other performers names like evangelists, ministers, and elders. He also released Go Home earlier this year, which strategically emphasized the ‘no-love’ message.

Given that Blaqbonez is working on a new album titled “Young Preacher,” we’re curious as to what kind of amusing tricks the rapper has in store for us this time, which keeps us excited and anticipating the album’s release.

6. Chike – The Brother’s Keeper

The streets erupted when super-talented singer Chike released his Boo of the Booless album in 2020. The project’s storytelling, versatility, and distinct vocals established it as an instant classic.

Chike’s sophomore album, titled ‘The Brother’s Keeper,’ is set to be released on August 25th, and we can’t wait. The album, he says, is a reflection of his successful journey since the release of Boo of the Booless. In a tweet, he described the album as “trusted to be a beacon of hope, a lover, a caregiver, a provider, a friend, and a brother to those who stand behind me, and everyone around me.”

The Brother’s Keeper is set to be released on August 25th and will feature features from Flavour, Ycee, and Azanna, as well as exclusive productions from the industry’s best: Killertunes, Lord Sky, Dee Yasso, Tee-Y Mix, Echo The Guru, and more. Because of Chike’s musical abilities and past accomplishments, we are confident that The Brother’s Keeper will be one of the highlights of 2022.

7. Runtown – Signs

Runtown has been absent from the music scene for some time, so when he announced the release of his new album ‘Signs,’ fans rejoiced. The singer has previously kept us glued with songs like Mad Over You, Energy, Lagos To Kampala featuring Wizkid, Bend Down Pause, and others from his Soundgod Fest Vol.1 album, which was released in 2018. As a result, when we hear about a new Runtown album, we can’t help but feel nostalgic.

The album will reportedly contain 11 songs, including the previously released If e Happen for Lagos. In a tweet, the Mad Over You singer said of the upcoming album, “my favorite work of art yet!” We are grateful for all of the support we have received while working on this project. There are no condolences, only SIGN$.

8. Jesse Jagz – Family Tree

In the lyrics of ‘I’m Hot,’ M.I Abaga says, “See even Jagz don’t mess with me and Jagz is the greatest.” Jesse Jags is without a doubt one of Nigeria’s best rappers. With albums like Jagz of All Trade and Jagz Nation Vol 1: Thy Nation Come, the ace lyricist has proven his career worth.

Jagz’s new album, Family Tree, was announced with a twist: “my forthcoming album will feature a variety of music genres.” Hip hop, jazz, reggae, afrobeats, r&b, pop, and many other genres. The wait has not gone in vain! “You’ll see why Leo needed to isolate,” he tweeted. Normally, Jagz does full hip-hop, but with this tweet, it’s clear that we should expect a variety of genres, which makes us even more excited for the release of the new album.

9. Lojay – Gangster Romantic

Last year, Lojay and Sarz released the LV N ATTN EP, which was one of the highlights of 2021. The EP catapulted him into the music industry, landing him on some of the most popular shows as well as a collaboration with American artist Chris Brown on Monalisa’s remix this year. Given how quickly the EP went viral, the arrival of a new Lojay with his forthcoming album, Gangster Romantic, is exciting for fans.

10. Asake – Mr Money With The Vibes

This year, Asake has had an incredible run. From the critically acclaimed Ololade Asake EP, which featured hit songs like Sungba and Omo Ope, to Pallazzo with DJ Spinall and the now trending feature on Fireboy DML’s Bandana, he appears to be unstoppable at the moment.

The talented singer announced the release of his debut album on Twitter, saying, “I can’t wait to share my first ever album with the world ‘MR MONEY WITH THE VIBE’#MMWTV.” “It’ll be here soon.” Given that Asake hasn’t released a bad song since his breakout hits Mr Money, Omo Ope, and Sungba, which earned him a smashing remix with one of the biggest Afrobeats artists in the world right now, Burna Boy, we expect this album to be a hit.
