Burna Boy’s biggest competition for Best World Music Album in the Grammy Award category, Angelique Kidjo, has won the Distinguished Artist Award 2020.

Angelique Kidjo has taken to social media to express her appreciation:

“Thanks so much to the International Society for the Performing Arts for giving me their 2020 ISPA Award! I feel so grateful. Past awardees”.

The only Africans nominated in the Best World Music Album category are Angélique Kidjo and Burna Boy.

Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo, known as Angélique Kidjo (born 14 July 1960), is a Beninian singer-songwriter, actress and activist noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos. Time magazine called her “Africa’s premier diva” in 2007.
